GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This new bridge project incorporated a high-level pre-cast Segmental Bridge over the St. Lucie River in Stuart, Florida. The superstructure of the twin bridges consists of two 61 foot wide Single-Cell Girders, accommodating six 12 foot Traffic Lanes, two 8 foot wide Shoulders, and one 5 foot wide walkway. The Foundations were constructed with 30-inch square Concrete Piles. The Substructure consists of Mass Concrete Footings, Rectangular Columns, and Flared Pier Caps – all constructed with Cast-in-place Concrete. The 1,112 Pre-cast Concrete Bridge Segments were erected with Balanced Cantilevers, using an Overhead Self-Launching Truss.
